Have you met... ?

My new traddy? I haven't seen her yet. But, my sis was nice enough to try her out and it's a GO!! I am so excited to meet her in 2.5 weeks. My excitment might even be slightly more than seeing my nieces. Hmm... Something is truly wrong if I am saying that. But... Yeah.. I want to meet her. I don't have a name for her yet. Maybe Lil can help me name her. Hopefully, it will be something easy to remember.

It's a single treadle for now, I am sure I will convert her to a double fairly soon. How does 7/15 sounds? Pretty good.

She is all I can think of today. I download her picture to my desktop at work. Every now and then, I will switch and look at her. I would smile. MY OWN WHEEL! How nice. How soon. :)

Spinning lesson

I had my very first spinning lesson on a WHEEL saturday morning. Wendy showed me how to spin and she even let me keep her lendrum overnight!! I love the color of her dye work. I don't know how much rovings she gave me to play with. But, the bobbin seems full and I still have more fibers here sitting in the living room. It was so much fun. I can sit still quietly for a couple of hours and spin my way. DH was amazed that something can actually keep my attention for that long. For those who know me, you know better than I can only do something for a short period of time and I will get bored. Nope, not spinning.

Colors

Now that the pattern has been published for the Elann's jacket. I was happily cutting up the knitpick's catalogue so I can pair the 7 colors together. Here they are. DH thought I was crazy coz' I was having so much fun while pairing them.
However, while I was spinning this AM, I asked myself... Excuse me!! Why don't you spin your own yarn and dye them yourself?? D'oh! That's right. All I need to do is to get a spining wheel and more colors from Dhara trading?? So, I was practicing how to spin a slightly thicker yarn after this thought.
I am having a lot of trouble trying to spin a slighly thicker yarn. I will show you the bobbin in another post.
SO, back to colors, I don't think I will be buying the knitpicks color after all...

This might be IT

I found THIS Pinwheel Sweater from Elann. This might be IT. My very first one. Or, I am still thinking about the knitty sweater. I will check out the pattern once Elann's is available and see if I can actually knit it.

dyed sock yarn

My yarn fairy send me the sock yarn from knitpicks. I wasn't thinking right when I was dyeing it. All I have been doing was dyeing with rovings, and I am so used to dyeing the rovings in patches. I am not sure how this will be once knitted out. But, I am sure I will like it.

I took me a long time to decide what color I was going to dye them. I finally came to term with myself, and decided on blue and green. But WAIT... isn't that yellow, white and pink? Yes, you know why? I only have Navy blue and yellow, when I tried mixing Navy blue w/ yellow, that is NOT a pretty green. It was so ugly. So... I abandoned that and decided to go yellow and pink. So, here it is. I purposely kept some white because I want the color to be lighter and it will pick me up when it's dark outside. I was calling this strawberry field when I was dyeing. Not sure why, but that's what I am picturing, and since this is MY yarn, Strawberry field it is. :) I need to finish up the sock I am working on now and find something to knit.

I am thinking of either this, or what my yarn fairy is going to knit. I am leaning towards yarn fairy's... Dunno yet.

Tiny skein of yarn

This is way smaller than the picture is capturing. I got the yarn from here. This is actually the free yarn I got from them. I over dye it with some navy blue and I dyed some purple mill ends to blend the two together. I have a LOT more spinning to do for this... I am calling her midnight blue.

not sure what I will be knitting. I am thinking about a scraf with some leaves pattern. There are a lot of that out there, I need to pick one.

One sock down, one more to go

Is it just me or not? I can't get the same energy level when working on the second one...
Well, at least the first one is done. I am sure I will be working on the second one at the knitting meet up this wednesday. knit@nite :)

Wheels

I am "dyeing" to own a wheel, with a very tight budget. What do you do? Wait IT OUT until bonus time (7/15) or I sell something at home, right? Amm.... Still trying. I was researching on wheels until 11:30 last night and guess what? I am up at 4:30 this AM thinking about them. I know what style I want. Saxony wheels. I love the looks of it. That eliminate a number of the wheels out there, that means the affordable S17 is out of the question.
I am down to two Saxony style wheels. The one to the left is prelude, it cost about $289 (unfinish). The lighter color one is the traveller and cost about $360 (unfinish). Big price difference, yes and no. I like the looks of the traveller better, but for $70?? I don't know.
And lastly, Ms Kiwi. $285, not my favorite Saxony style. I am interested because of it's double treadle and price of course.
Three of them, what should I do? I know... Test them out. How? I was able to find a lady here in SD that will teach a 1 on 1 for $30. So, I left a VM. However, I am not sure if she has those wheels. Also, she has a S17 for rent for $15/week. I might think about it. I want to make sure I truly like spinning wheels first. We will see.
Until then, I better finish up my sock, and start the other foot. Or, I should knit the tea set or the headband that I am supposed to be doing and giving by the end of June.... Not sure if I can make it. :)
